He has his master’s in English literature and has submitted his PhD thesis in English literature. His work explores what is being considered as translation problem. He is making an attempt to show that translation is not a simple linguistic problem, but it is the problem of cultural difference. Through series of translations from Kannada to English and vice versa, his work shows that when two cultures encounter each other, the problem is of understanding cultures is at the heart of the problem, than merely recognising translations as linguistic problem. His work shows important aspects like the impact of Bible translation on Kannada language and how colonial consciousness also becomes an additional issue in translation.
